Amaziptin-M (Sitagliptin + Metformin)

Sitagliptin + Metformin is a fixed-dose oral antidiabetic combination used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

• Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormone levels, stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion.
• Metformin is a biguanide that lowers hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity.

The combination helps achieve better glycemic control than monotherapy, without significant risk of hypoglycemia when used appropriately.

Main Uses

• Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Helps reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels
• Improves HbA1c levels in uncontrolled diabetes patients
• Reduces risk of diabetes-related complications (neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, cardiovascular disease)
• Prescribed when diet, exercise, or monotherapy with metformin or sitagliptin is insufficient

Contraindications

Sitagliptin + Metformin should not be used in patients with:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²)
• Severe hepatic impairment
• Hypersensitivity to sitagliptin, metformin, or any excipients
• History of lactic acidosis
• Conditions causing hypoxia (cardiac or respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction, shock)
• Alcohol abuse (increased risk of lactic acidosis)
• Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding should be avoided unless advised by a physician
