Abhay-TOX (Absorbed Tetanus Toxoid)

Absorbed Tetanus Toxoid is a purified and inactivated tetanus toxoid vaccine formulated to provide active immunization against tetanus, a potentially fatal disease caused by the Clostridium tetani bacterium. The vaccine contains a detoxified form of the tetanus toxin adsorbed onto aluminum phosphate, which enhances the immune response and ensures long-term protection.

The vaccine stimulates the body to produce specific antibodies against the tetanus toxin, preventing the development of symptoms such as muscle rigidity, spasms, and lockjaw in the event of exposure.

Main Uses:

• Active immunization against tetanus in children and adults
• Booster dose for individuals with previous primary immunization
• Post-exposure prophylaxis following injuries, cuts, burns, or wounds that may be contaminated with dirt or rust
• Often administered in combination with diphtheria and pertussis vaccines (as part of DTP/DT formulations)

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to tetanus toxoid or any component of the vaccine
• Severe allergic reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) to a previous tetanus-containing vaccine
• Acute febrile illness — vaccination should be postponed until recovery
• Should be used with caution in individuals with Guillain-Barré syndrome or brachial neuritis following a previous tetanus toxoid vaccination
