B. Braun Dextrose 5% in Water (D5W) Solution for IV Infusion is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, isotonic fluid providing both hydration and a source of energy. It is used for fluid replacement, carbohydrate supplementation, and as a vehicle for intravenous drug delivery.

Main Uses:

Hydration and fluid replacement in patients with dehydration
Caloric source (providing 5 g of dextrose per 100 mL)
Diluent or carrier fluid for compatible IV medications
Adjunct to parenteral nutrition when additional energy is required

Contraindications:

Hyperglycemia or glucose intolerance
Severe dehydration with electrolyte imbalance
Intracranial or intraspinal hemorrhage (especially in diabetic patients)
Known allergy or hypersensitivity to dextrose solutions
