Dolowin (Aceclofenac)
Dolowin (Aceclofenac)
Aceclofenac, an oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, is used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis due to its potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It inhibits the cyclo-oxygenase enzyme, which synthesizes inflammatory prostaglandins, alleviating pain, swelling, inflammation, and fever. Classified as BCS Class II due to its poor aqueous solubility, aceclofenac penetrates synovial joints effectively, targeting pain and inflammation in conditions like osteoarthritis. It's also effective in dental and gynaecological conditions. Developed as an analog of the NSAID Diclofenac in 1991 to enhance gastrointestinal tolerability, aceclofenac is widely prescribed in Europe.
