Duvadilan (Isoxsuprine Hydrochloride) 10 mg Tablets – Uterine Relaxant and Peripheral Vasodilator

Duvadilan contains isoxsuprine hydrochloride, a beta-adrenergic receptor stimulator and vasodilator medication used to treat premature labor and vascular conditions. Each tablet delivers 10 mg of the active ingredient in an oral, uncoated white tablet form marked with the inscription '111'.

As a beta-agonist uterine relaxant, isoxsuprine works through multiple mechanisms: it exerts strong inhibitory effects on uterine and blood vessel smooth muscle tissue, antagonizes alpha-receptor stimulation to prevent uterine contractions, and provides direct relaxant action on smooth muscle fibers. These combined effects help arrest premature labor and improve blood flow in cerebral and peripheral vascular disease.

The medication is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations occurring approximately one hour after oral administration. It has a plasma half-life of 1.5 hours and is primarily excreted in urine as conjugates.

Duvadilan is indicated for the treatment of premature labor and has also been used to manage cerebral and peripheral vascular disorders. Typical dosing ranges from 10 to 20 mg orally three to four times daily for vasodilatory effects, with higher regimens available for labor management under medical supervision.

The formulation includes inactive ingredients: lactose, corn starch, gelatin, talc, and magnesium stearate. Store below 25°C with a shelf life of 5 years. This is a prescription medication classified as a peripheral vasodilator, cerebral activator, and drug acting on the uterus (ATC C04AA01).

Potential adverse effects include transient nausea, vomiting, flushing, tachycardia, rashes, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Blood pressure monitoring is recommended, particularly in patients with pre-existing hypotension.
