Ebast (Ebastatin)
Ebast (Ebastatin)
Ebastine, a second-generation H1 antihistamine, is characterized by its low potential for causing drowsiness due to its minimal penetration of the blood-brain barrier. It effectively blocks the H1 receptor in peripheral tissue, making it suitable for allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Available in tablet and fast-dissolving forms, with flexible daily dosing based on disease severity, its efficacy is supported by data from numerous clinical trials. Ebastine demonstrates a favorable safety profile, with no significant cognitive or psychomotor impairment, sedation, or QT prolongation observed. While animal studies indicate no risk to the unborn, its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding remains uncertain.
