Fosaprepitant is an intravenous antiemetic belonging to the class of neurokinin‑1 (NK1) receptor antagonists. It is primarily used in combination with other anti‑nausea medications to prevent acute and delayed nausea and vomiting caused by moderately and highly emetogenic chemotherapy. Fosaprepitant is a prodrug of aprepitant, meaning it converts into aprepitant in the body. Aprepitant works by blocking substance P from binding to NK1 receptors in the brain—interrupting the vomiting reflex activated by chemotherapy. This category includes intravenous powder for solution and pre‑mixed IV solution (commonly in 150 mg doses), administered in clinical settings by qualified healthcare providers. It is approved for use in adults and children 6 months and older who weigh at least 6 kg.
