Fungicon (Fluconazole)
Fungicon (Fluconazole)
Fluconazole is an antifungal medication commonly used to treat a variety of fungal infections, including yeast infections of the mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, genital area, and bloodstream. It belongs to the class of drugs known as azole antifungals and works by inhibiting the growth of fungi by interfering with their cell membrane formation. Fluconazole is often prescribed as a single-dose treatment for vaginal yeast infections or taken orally for more severe systemic fungal infections. While generally well-tolerated, fluconazole may cause side effects such as nausea, headache, abdominal pain, and liver enzyme abnormalities, and it can interact with certain medications. Therefore, it should be used cautiously and under medical supervision, especially in individuals with liver disease or those taking other medications.
