Levocetirizine is an antihistamine medication primarily used to alleviate symptoms associated with allergies, such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. It belongs to the second-generation antihistamine class, known for its efficacy in minimizing side effects like drowsiness compared to first-generation antihistamines. Levocetirizine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance produced by the body during allergic reactions, thereby reducing the symptoms caused by histamine release.
