Letero (Letrozole)

Letrozole is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of hormone receptor–positive breast cancer. It works by blocking the enzyme aromatase, which converts androgens into estrogens in the body, thereby reducing estrogen levels that can promote the growth of estrogen-dependent tumors.

Main Uses

• Breast Cancer (Hormone Receptor–Positive):
  • First-line treatment of postmenopausal women with advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
  • Adjuvant treatment for early-stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
  • Extended adjuvant therapy after tamoxifen treatment.
• Fertility Treatment (off-label): Sometimes used for ovulation induction in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Contraindications

• Premenopausal women (unless being used off-label under fertility treatment protocols).
• Pregnancy (Category X – can cause fetal harm).
• Breastfeeding (not recommended).
• Known hypersensitivity to letrozole or any component of the formulation.
