Micropil Plus is a low-dose combination oral contraceptive pill (birth control pill) widely used in the Philippines to prevent pregnancy and manage certain menstrual disorders.
Active Ingredients
- Hormone Tablets (21 fuchsia pink tablets): Each tablet contains Norethisterone 400 mcg (a progestin) and Ethinyl Estradiol 35 mcg (an estrogen).
- Iron Supplements (7 red tablets): Each tablet contains Ferrous Fumarate 75 mg to help replace iron lost during your menstrual period.
Primary Uses
- Contraception: Highly effective at preventing pregnancy when taken correctly.
- Menstrual Management: Prescribed to treat dysmenorrhea (painful periods), dysfunctional uterine bleeding, endometriosis, and to help regulate irregular cycles.
How to Take It
- Take one tablet daily at the exact same time every day, preferably after your evening meal or before bed to minimize nausea.
- The Routine: Start with the 21 fuchsia pink hormone tablets, followed immediately by the 7 red iron tablets.
- Starting a Pack: Generally, you start taking the fuchsia pink tablets on Day 5 of your menstrual cycle (counting the first day of bleeding as Day 1).

Side Effects: Some women may experience mild nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, fluid retention, or spotting between periods.
- Important Safety Warning: Oral contraceptives should not be used by individuals with a history of blood clots, severe liver disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or hormone-dependent cancers. Smoking while taking the pill significantly increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects.
