Moxetero (Moxifloxacin)

Moxifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes. Effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, moxifloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, disrupting bacterial cell replication and leading to cell death.

Commonly prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and bacterial conjunctivitis, moxifloxacin offers convenient once-daily dosing. The antibiotic demonstrates excellent tissue penetration and bioavailability, making it suitable for both oral and ophthalmic administration.

Moxifloxacin is typically well-tolerated with a favorable pharmacokinetic profile. Standard dosing is 400 mg once daily for systemic infections, with treatment duration determined by infection severity and type. Ophthalmic formulations are available for eye infections.
