Poliovac is an inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine providing comprehensive protection against poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. Each 0.5 ml dose contains precisely calibrated antigen units (40 D for type 1, 8 D for type 2, and 32 D for type 3) cultivated on Vero cells, with minimal preservatives for safety and stability.
The vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection into the anterolateral thigh (children under 2 years) or deep subcutaneous injection into the deltoid muscle (children 2 years and older, adults). Flexible vaccination schedules accommodate different immunization programs: the bOPV + IPV combined schedule delivers one 0.5 ml dose at 14 weeks alongside oral poliomyelitis vaccine, while the IPV-only schedule consists of three doses approximately 4 weeks apart at 6, 10, and 14 weeks, followed by a booster at least 6 months after the third dose.
Poliovac provides lifelong protection against poliomyelitis after completion of the four-dose series. The vaccine is well-tolerated with minimal side effects—typically mild local reactions (pain, redness at injection site) or low-grade fever. Anaphylactic reactions are exceptionally rare. Vaccination may safely proceed during pregnancy and breastfeeding; only postpone if severe acute febrile illness is present.
Store between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Suitable for routine childhood immunization and catch-up vaccination schedules in accordance with national recommendations.
