Hidrasec (Racecadotril)

Racecadotril is an antidiarrheal medication used for the treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and children. It works as an intestinal enkephalinase inhibitor, reducing fluid and electrolyte loss without slowing down intestinal transit. Unlike loperamide, Racecadotril controls diarrhea while minimizing the risk of constipation.

Contraindications

• Patients with known hypersensitivity to Racecadotril or any component of Hidrasec.
• Infants under 3 months of age (safety not established).
• Should not replace oral rehydration therapy in patients with severe dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
