Shingrix (Zoster Vaccine Recombinant, Adjuvanted)

Shingrix is a recombinant, adjuvanted zoster vaccine developed to protect against herpes zoster (shingles) and related complications such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). It contains varicella-zoster virus glycoprotein E (gE) combined with an AS01B adjuvant system, which enhances immune response. Shingrix is indicated for adults aged 50 years and older, including those with weakened immune systems, providing long-lasting protection against shingles.

Main Use:

• Prevention of herpes zoster (shingles) in adults aged 50 years and older.
• May also be used in adults aged 18 years and older at increased risk of shingles.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine
• Severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of Shingrix
• Moderate or severe acute illness (postpone vaccination until recovery)
