Temotero (Temozolomide)

Temozolomide is a chemotherapy medicine used to treat certain brain cancers, including glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma. It belongs to a class of medicines called antineoplastic agents. Temozolomide works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, which stops them from growing and allows the body to eliminate them. It may be prescribed for both newly diagnosed and recurrent brain tumors, often alongside other treatments such as radiation.

Main Uses

• Primary brain tumors
  • Newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) (in combination with radiotherapy, followed by maintenance monotherapy)
  • Anaplastic astrocytoma (recurrent or progressive disease)

• Sometimes used off-label in other malignancies per oncologist’s discretion.

Contraindications / Precautions

• Hypersensitivity to temozolomide or dacarbazine (DTIC)
• Severe myelosuppression
• Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding (teratogenic)
