Zoletero (Zoledronic Acid)

Zoledronic Acid is a medication used to treat high calcium levels caused by cancer, brittle bones caused by a cancer called multiple myeloma, or tumors from other cancers that have spread to the bones.

Main Uses

• Oncology
  • Treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy
  • Prevention of skeletal-related events (SREs) in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors or multiple myeloma

• Non-oncology
  • Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men
  • Treatment and prevention of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis
  • Treatment of Paget’s disease of bone

Contraindications / Precautions

• Hypocalcemia (must be corrected before therapy)
• Severe renal impairment (CrCl < 35 mL/min for osteoporosis doses)
• Hypersensitivity to zoledronic acid or other bisphosphonates
• Use with caution in patients with dental problems (risk of ONJ)
