Contents: Each enteric coated tablet contains: Aspirin 100 mg.

Description: As a salicylate NSAID, aspirin shares many characteristics with other NSAIDs. It possesses analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic qualities. It also inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which prevents arachidonic acid from being used to make prostaglandins and thromboxanes. Non-acetylated salicylates do not prevent platelet aggregation like aspirin does.

Indication/Use: For the secondary prevention of thrombotic cerebrovascular or cardiovascular disease as well as the prophylaxis of cerebrovascular disease or myocardial infarction, aspirin is employed. It is also used to treat headaches, dysmenorrhea, pyrexia, fever, and pain associated with musculoskeletal problems.

Dosage: 75 mg to 100 mg for the prevention of myocardial infarction and stroke. 300 mg to 900 mg every 4 to 6 hours, as needed, up to a maximum of 4 g daily, or as directed by a doctor, for analgesic/antipyretic effects.

Contraindications: Due to the danger of Reye's syndrome, children and adolescents under the age of 16 as well as nursing mothers should be avoided. A peptic ulcer that is present or active. Haemophilia. Not for the treatment of gout; with a history of aspirin or other NSAID sensitivities.

Special Precaution: Patients who are prone to dyspepsia or are known to have a lesion of the stomach mucosa should use aspirin with caution, if at all.

Pregnancy & Lactation: Following their consumption, salicylates can be found in the umbilical cord and breast milk. Aspirin taken at a low dose has fewer side effects than one taken at a high dose. Aspirin shouldn't be consumed by pregnant women after 20 weeks of gestation till delivery. While breastfeeding, it's advised to avoid aspirin and instead use other painkillers.
